International Child Development Program is implementing the Girls Empowerment through Education Project (GEEP) in the Akwapim South Municipality. This project forms part of the Gender Rights and Empowerment Program (G-REP) which is sponsored by STAR-Ghana Foundation with funding from the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
Under the Project, learners will be equipped with the right information about the Gender and reproductive health rights, 200 Girls will be recruited into GEEP Girls Clubs in intervention schools, and 30 school-based facilitators will be trained to increase their capacity about the Girls Re-entey Policy and other issues affecting Girls education.
A stakeholders meeting had been held to apprise them about the project and status of implementation as well as to solicit their commitment towards the success of the project. Present were representatives of the Municipal Assembly, STAR-Ghana Foundation, Municipal Education Directorate, Christian and Muslim Communities, Assembly members, Headteachers of intervention schools, learners and ICDP.
