68th Independence Day Celebration In Akuapim South

2025 mce confirmation The 68th Independence Day celebration was observed at the Presbyterian Senior High Technical School Park, Aburi on Thursday, 6th March, 2025 under the theme: Reflect, Review and Reset.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Lydia Akuertey highlighted on the importance of reminiscing on the journey of independence and the sacrifices our forefathers made, urging a shift in mindset of the citizens, she reiterated on the need to desist from corruption, she however, touted some challenges the nation is facing although the nation has achieved some strides in some sectors of the economy. She underscored on the need to reflect on the significant of our independence and reflect on our values to inform our actions in building a great nation for the generation unborn. The Member of Parliament of the Akuapim South Municipal Assembly, Hon. Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, expressed her profound gratitude for her victory in the 2024 general elections, emphasizing on this years theme, and encouraged the students to study to achieve their goals in life.

She announced that the maiden office of the Member of Parliament will be inaugurated to effectively communicate with the indigens to meet their needs. She also reiterated on fulfilling her "one locality one borga" initiative to empower about 200 youths to travel and work to enrich their lives whilst uplifting the Akuapim South Municipality amongst other initiatives.

Participating schools were the Aburi Senior High Technical School and their cadet, Adonten Senior High School and their cadet, Bright Star International School and Aburi Presbyterian Junior High. They were awarded Certificates of participating in the 68th Independence parade.

The event witnessed prominent figures within the municipality including the Member of Parliament, Municipal Education Director, The Security Services, Traditional Leaders, The Clergy, Heads of Departments of the assembly and students from various schools within the municipality.

Two brilliant students, a male and female were awarded a laptop each for emerging winners of the past Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E).
