SOD Cutting Ceremony for a One-Storey Classroom Block at Aburi PWCE Demonstration Basic School

2025 Demonstration SOD cutting As part of efforts by the Akuapim South Municipal Assembly to enhance quality education in the municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Honourable Paul Osae Offei, together with his media and technical team, paid a developmental visit to the Presbyterian Women’s College of Education (PWCE) Demonstration Basic School on 15th October 2025. The visit marked the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 6-unit classroom block, aimed at decongesting the school’s overcrowded classrooms.

In his address, the MCE noted that he had promised to support the school with a new classroom block upon assuming office. Having received approval from the Regional Tender Committee, he was now fulfilling that commitment. He added that the new facility would be constructed as a storey building to allow for future expansion.

The Municipal Director of Education commended the MCE for his continuous support in improving teaching and learning within the municipality. She also urged the contractors to ensure that the project is completed on schedule and in accordance with the agreed specifications.

The project has been awarded to Genefos Ghana Limited, with a completion timeline of eight months. The Municipal Works Engineer advised the contractors to strictly adhere to the approved designs and use high-quality materials throughout the construction process.

Following the official handover, the contractors pledged to commence work on 20th October 2025.

After the ceremony, the Honourable MCE visited several classrooms to assess the current conditions. With assistance from the headteacher, it was revealed that the average class size was 68 pupils, with some classes accommodating as many as 76. The MCE reaffirmed his commitment to reducing classroom congestion as soon as possible before taking his leave.
