Adamorobe Community Petitions Akuapim South Municipal Assembly for Road Rehabilitation

2026 Adamorobe Demonstration Residents of Adamorobe on 1st June 2026 presented a petition to the Akuapim South Municipal Assembly (AKSMA), calling for urgent intervention to address the poor condition of roads in the community, as well as other development concerns.

The demonstration followed earlier appeals by the community, including a petition submitted on 20th May 2020, seeking government’s action on the deteriorating state of the Adamorobe road network.

The petition, submitted to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Paul Osae Offei, called for the immediate rehabilitation of the Adamorobe–Aburi–Oyibi road, which residents say has deteriorated significantly over the years and continues to impose severe hardships on the community.

Addressing the gathering, the Secretary of Zion Obotantim Radio Station, Prophetess Rhoda Badu, stated that previous formal appeals had been made to the Member of Parliament for Akuapem South and the Municipal Chief Executive, highlighting the urgent need for intervention. She noted that despite several assurances and commitments from authorities, no visible rehabilitation works had commenced.

According to the petitioners, the deplorable state of the road has negatively affected transportation, economic activities, access to healthcare and education, and the overall well-being of residents. They further explained that the situation worsens during the rainy season when sections of the road become nearly impassable, exposing residents to safety risks and economic losses.

The group appealed to the Municipal Assembly, the Ministry of Roads and Highways, and other relevant stakeholders to take swift action to address the situation. They warned that should authorities fail to act, the community would organize peaceful protest actions every six months until the road is fully rehabilitated and made motorable.

Responding to the concerns, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Paul Osae Offei, acknowledged the poor condition of the road and indicated that plans were underway to rehabilitate the approximately 10-kilometre inter-regional stretch. He appealed to residents to exercise restraint and assured them that the Adamorobe road and surrounding roads would soon be graded under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) as part of ongoing road maintenance efforts, pending a major rehabilitation project.

The petition specifically called on the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the Ghana Highway Authority, the Department of Feeder Roads, the Akuapem South Municipal Assembly, the Member of Parliament for Akuapem South, and all relevant stakeholders to prioritize and commence rehabilitation works on the Adamorobe road without further delay.

The residents emphasized that their petition seeks immediate government intervention to restore the road, improve accessibility, promote socio-economic development, and enhance the safety and welfare of the people of Adamorobe and its surrounding communities.
