Health Dept. of ASDA promotes Good Nutrition among School-Age Children and Adolescent

Placeholder image On the 3rd July, 2021, the department of Ghana Health Service in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, visited five school in the municipality on the account of Nutrition-Friendly Schools Initiative (NFSI).

The team from both Ghana Health Service and Ghana Education Service selected a day out as a nutrition day. The agreed day was Friday after taking their lunch. The team served the school age children and the adolescent with fruits and eggs.

A school-based health and nutrition program being adopted as the platform on which to implement a set of school-based health and nutrition activities aimed at improving the school environment to make it more nutrition sensitive.

The five schools visited were;
1. Peduase Methodist Basic
2. Kitase M/A Basic
3. Agyementi M/A Basic
4. Ayim M/A Basic
5. Sterlyn International
The team hope to scale-up the intervention to remaining schools by end of year.
