On the 3rd July, 2021, the department of Ghana Health Service in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, visited five school in the municipality on the account of Nutrition-Friendly Schools Initiative (NFSI).
The team from both Ghana Health Service and Ghana Education Service selected a day out as a nutrition day. The agreed day was Friday after taking their lunch. The team served the school age children and the adolescent with fruits and eggs.
A school-based health and nutrition program being adopted as the platform on which to implement a set of school-based health and nutrition activities aimed at improving the school environment to make it more nutrition sensitive.
The five schools visited were;
1. Peduase Methodist Basic
2. Kitase M/A Basic
3. Agyementi M/A Basic
4. Ayim M/A Basic
5. Sterlyn International
The team hope to scale-up the intervention to remaining schools by end of year.
