The National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) under the Ghana Health Service (GHS) commenced the registration of the 2021-point mass distribution of Long-Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLIN) in the Akuapim South Municipality on the 12th of October, 2022 and expcted to last for a week.The exercise is expected to give out about five thousand mosquito nets to residents in the municipality.
Ms. Elizabeth Agutah-the national Supervisor (PMD), Daniel Adu Ansong-the Regional Representative, the Health Director-Mrs. Emily Osman and officials of the Health Directorate of the municipality, toured some health facilities including the Pokrom Health Centre and visited officers on the field to have first hand information regarding the registration.
The strategy adopted was visiting the households early in the morning and late in the evening since most people would have returned from their workplaces. Technology was deployed as configured tablets were deployed to make the registration exercise efficient and effective.
Registrants were to present a valid identification card, their personal details and their location will be captured for easy identification during the net distribution.
