The Akuapem South Education Directorate, on the 18th of October, 2023, held it's maiden Teacher Awards to recognize and appreciate hardworking teaching and non- teaching staff in the Directorate.
In all, Twenty-Two (22) teachers and education workers received various items ranging from double decker refrigerators to gas cylinders.
The overall best teacher took home a 32 inch colour television, a double decker refrigerator and a cash prize of GHc6,000.00 donated by the Member of Parliament for Akuapem South Municipality.
The first runner up also won a 32 inch colour television, a double decker refrigerator and a cash prize of GHC 4,000.00, whilst the second runner up in addition to the 32 inch colour television, had a double decker refrigerator and a cash prize of GHC 2,000.00.
The Municipal Director of Education, Elizabeth Afriyie (Ms), speaking on the theme:"Getting The Right Teacher For Quality Education: The Vision Of Akuapem South Education Directorate" said 'education is the cornerstone of progress and development, and at the heart of this endeavor are educators who shape the minds of our future generations'.
